Meet Katie!  | For U Fitness

Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I am from Ireland. I moved to the beautiful Houston Texas in June 2016.

In my free time, I like to spend it with my friends and family. I do a variety of workouts from strength based sessions, endurance running to CrossFit and F45 classes. It is important to keep changing your routines so your body will quickly adapt.
 
I love surrounding myself with people from all walks of life. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced athlete I am willing to share my experiences and knowledge of exercises and nutrition to help you improve your lifestyle. My goal is to create a program which will push you to achieve your goals and make each session as enjoyable as the next. Also, giving each client the attention they deserve is vital regardless of where you are on your fitness journey!





Q&A WITH KATIE

Why do you enjoy training (personal and/or performance)?
 
I enjoy training for the challenge. I like the way it helps improve my fitness levels and overall strength. I feel that I have more energy when performing daily choirs. Personally, it is a way of taking time out of your busy schedule where you can reflect and better yourself.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
 
I have so many favorite places. I would either say Argentina or Rome in Italy. Argentina because the north around Medellin is beautiful in November, especially around the Vineyards. Then down south in Barilloche has a nice ski resort feel which is quite cozy. There were so many great places to bike and hike which was challenging but so good. Rome is beautiful because of its history and culture. It is a great city to walk around because every corner has something different. It’s just as well because the food is devine.
 
What is your favorite movie and why?
 
I like a variety of different genres. Romantic I would go for the usual “The Notebook”, something comical “Brigid Jones’s Diary”. I recently watched “The Kingsman”. I love binge watching any new series on Netflix. Really like“Stranger Things” at the moment which will most likely be watched in the space of 3 days.
 
What is the most important thing to you?
 
My husband Shane and my family. The ability to exercise and keep fit along with having a positive mindset.

What is your favorite sport and why?
 
I would have to say Gaelic football because I grew up watching and playing it. Then I went on to coach it. Since moving to Houston I’ve grown an interest in American football and basketball. I love fast paced sports. Recently baseball is growing on me mainly because of them getting into the world series. I love getting on the bandwagon.
 
What drives you to be the best at what you do?
 
I think results are a definite factor that drives anyone in any given situation; be it work or training. When I’m diligently training, and my nutrition is on par I start seeing my body changing. I notice the hard work paying off which drives me to better myself even further. I love training clients whose mindset is totally positive and they are willing to put 100% effort into their health. What drives me the most is when clients start to get stronger and begin to feel confident in themselves. You then know that you are steering them in the right direction to leading a healthier lifestyle.
 
What inspires you?
 
People who are driven to achieve their goals. Anyone who works hard, puts in the hours and has a positive attitude will succeed in doing so. We should either be these people or aspire to be them. I love reading about people’s journey on how they have transformed their lives for the better. This motivates me to be a better version of myself.

If you could do anything, bucket list number one, what would that be?
 
I would love to set up my own Personal Training business back in Ireland in a few years. Before this I want to take a few months out and travel again.

What is the importance of physical fitness in your life?
 
Physical fitness is extremely important to me as it increases my energy for the day ahead. I work out at least 6 days a week. I love the feeling of becoming stronger and pushing my endurance level as far as I can. It is vital to incorporate any form of fitness into your daily routine be it a 30 minute stroll or whatever you fancy.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
 
My greatest accomplishment was representing the Middle East in the world games for Gaelic football.
