Say Hello To Amanda! | For U Fitness

Hi there! My name is Amanda and I am an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer with a Bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science. I have a background in team sports, running, weight lifting and high intensity interval training (HIIT).

My love of sports came from my dad who would take me out on our weekend’s together to play baseball, basketball, golf and even ride horses. As a child I was incredibly shy, but I loved the idea of being on a team and running around with my friends. I tried swimming at age 7, but was afraid to dive so my mom put me in Jazz and Tap classes. I did that for two years, until I realized my true passion was sports.

As soon as I started middle school I tried out for and played all the sports we had to offer; volleyball, basketball and soccer. Once I got to High School I decided to try some new things. I played softball, golf and ran cross country. In college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to major in and it was my friends who helped me figure out that I would do really well in something that combined my passion for athletics and helping people. I began working towards my degree in kinesiology and found out how passionate I am about the human body and the way that it moves. Also, I had the opportunity to help a lot of my friends reach their fitness goals and change the way they viewed exercise.

Exercise is not just a way to change the way you look, but the way you feel both mentally and physically. Whether you are just starting your fitness journey or are looking to learn something new, I know that together we can get you to your goals. I look forward to getting to know you and being on this journey with you!

Q&A With Amanda

Why do you enjoy training (personal and/or performance)?

Growing up I was always active and involved in sports or athletics, and if I could I would do some kind of physical activity all day! Exercise can be a challenge for a lot of people if they don't have a support system. I love that I can help someone achieve their goals, whether that be achieving a certain look, training for an event or just gaining confidence in working out.

What is your favorite movie and why?

"Bueller...? Bueller...? Bueller...?"My favorite movie has got to be 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'! Not only is it an incredibly fun movie, but it offers a great message. We should always try to seize the day and enjoy everything that life has to offer, because life is too short to not have fun.

What is the most important thing to you?

The most important thing to me is friendship. Friendship between your family members and people you meet that become like family to you. I'm an only child so finding friends that become like brothers or sisters to me is very important. I have been fortunate enough to have a lot of incredibly warm and kind people in my life that are just that, family.

What is your favorite sport and why?

Take me out to the ballgame! I love baseball, partly, because it is one of the sports I understand inside and out. Also, I love that in baseball it is up to the players to make things happen and it all happens so quickly.

What drives you to be the best at what you do?

I thoroughly enjoy helping people and love to watch them succeed, especially if it is something they have struggled with for a long time. The more knowledge I have about what I do, the better equipped I am to guide people on their fitness journey. And with every client I have I learn something that drives me to be better while often learning something about myself.

What inspires you?

Seeing others do something they thought they could never do is what inspires me. I love to see the look on a client's face when they come to me and tell me they were able to run a mile without stopping, when just a few months ago they would get winded walking for 10 minutes. For me, helping others overcome their personal and physical obstacles drives me to do the same.

If you could do anything, bucket list number one, what would that be?

If I could do absolutely anything, it would be to pilot a fighter jet. I want to feel the G-force as I gain altitude and the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach as I free fall back towards the earth, just before pulling up.

What is the importance of physical fitness in your life?

Physical fitness plays a huge role in my life. I am one of the only one of my friends and family that has the educational background and I use that to help everyone around me. Many people in my family have physical issues and little to no knowledge of working out. I want them all to be as healthy as possible so I am always giving them advice and/or training them myself.
