The old myth that women and strength training do not mix should be long forgotten!

Strength training for women has enormous health and fitness benefits and when done correctly can be just the thing required to get you closer to your fitness goals.

Read on to find out some reasons why  you may just wanted to pick up those weights during your next workout!

Strength Training Increases Body Fat Loss
It is a fact that strength training burns more body fat than cardio training.   Cardio does burn more calories while you are working out but strength training continues to burn fat after you finish your workout.   Your metabolism also increases after a strength training workout for up to 48 hours!

Strength Training Helps You Become Physically Stronger
Strength training substantially increases physical strength.  When you increase your overall physical strength you we see and feel the benefits in every aspect of your daily life. Whether it be in simple things like lifting and carrying everyday objects or more endurance on the tennis court you will have the ability to do more with less effort.

Strength Training Reduces Health Risks
One of the often overlooked benefits of strength training is that it positively impacts your overall health in numerous ways.  Strength training improves the way in which the body processes sugar, lessens the risk of type 2 diabetes, helps increase bone density and lowers blood pressure just to name a few health benefits.

Strength Training Makes You Look And Feel More Toned
Strength training builds lean muscle, and firms and sculpts your body more effectively than any other type of exercise.  Rotating all over body strength training will give you the best results and lead you to a balanced toned body.

Strength Training Helps Prevent Injury
Adding strength training to your fitness routine promotes stronger muscles and tendons, decreasing your chance of injury.   Stronger muscles and tendons help keep your body in proper alignment and protect the bones and joints when moving or under stress.

There should be no question left in your mind ... strength training is a valuable addition to your workout routine!   To get started, begin by lifting smaller weights, and increase the weight every two weeks, you will see results faster than you think!
