Hello, my name is Dakota and I’m an ACE certified personal trainer! I live in lake Oswego Oregon right now, but I grew up in Albany Oregon. So far this has been the best area I’ve ever lived in because I’m surrounded by nature. I love being outside and doing outdoor activities like swimming, paddle boarding, snowboarding, walking my dogs and just relaxing in the sun with a book in my hand. My soul passion in this life is to advise, assist and coach others about how to live a healthy lifestyle that is best suited for them. I’m also a bit of a nutrition nerd and love learning about how nutrition can heal the body and prevent diseases. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned to help more of you on your health journey!

Q&A With Dakota
Why do you enjoy training (personal and/or performance)?

I enjoy training for health and longevity. I’m motivated to do things that I know are beneficial for my health and will keep me living a full and happy life as I age.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

I’m happy to travel anywhere! I love visiting new places and having different experiences. Some of my favorite things to do while I vacation are hiking, swimming, exploring a new city or town, relaxing on the beach or snowboarding on the mountains.

What is the most important thing to you?

This is a tough question a lot of things are important to me, but I would have to say my health is the most important thing. Taking care of my body allows me to do the things I love with the people I love. If I don’t take care of myself first, then I can’t show up for others as my best self and live the life I truly desire. I strongly believe that the most unselfish thing we all can do is to take care of our health first so that we can spread happiness and love to others.

What is your favorite sport and why?

I’m not a huge fan of competitive sports but I love snowboarding and dancing for fun because I can let go of all my worries and just be in the moment having a good time.

What drives you to be the best at what you do?

I’m motivated to help others feel their best because I know what it’s like to not feel your best. I know how tough it can be when you feel like no matter what you do you don’t look or feel the way you want to. There was a time in my life when I truly thought I would never love the way my body looked, and this is a terrible feeling to have. Once I started taking care of my health and loving my body by treating it well with healthy food, exercise and positive affirmations my life drastically changed for the better. Helping others who are going through similar situations so that they CAN feel amazing is what drives me to be the best I can be.

If you could do anything, bucket list number one, what would that be?

That would be travel to all over Europe for at least a month so I can visit as many places as possible to really experience different cultures. I really want to go to Italy, Ireland, Greece, France and Germany! This is a dream of mine and a goal I will accomplish someday.

What is the importance of physical fitness in your life?

Establishing a fitness routine has been so important for my physical and mental health. Being able to lift, bend, squat, reach, climb, jump, and walk are all movements we as humans should be able to do. Our life becomes very limited when we are unable to perform these movements which is why I think its so important to keep moving our bodies. The older we get the more difficult it is to perform these movements. My goal is to prolong these effects of aging as much as possible by exercising and staying fit. Being active also helps my mental health. I’ve dealt with anxiety my whole life and I know how debilitating it can be at times, but exercise has been my medicine. Exercise helps me manage my anxiety by calming my body down so that I can think clearer and stress less.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?

I would have to say my greatest accomplishment was passing the paramedic exam to get my license. The journey was long and difficult so when I finally passed, I felt so proud and relieved. Getting my paramedic license even though I’m no longer pursing that path, led me to finding my true passion and purpose in life which is to help people live healthier lives.
