Born and raised in Rio, Brazil. A standout high school and later a collegiate athlete; Ana competed internationally in swimming as well as soccer and volleyball. In college, she majored in physical education while working full time as a physical trainer and gym manager. Ana moved to India and studied extensively with yoga master Phatabi Jois, recognized as the leading yoga master worldwide. She then traveled to New York and trained with Dharma Mitra and Shiva Rea, the top two international yoga masters after Phatabi Jois. It happens to the best of us: You get injured, find yourself working around the clock or are otherwise forced to put exercise on the back burner for a while. And when the holidays roll around, you’re also provided an incentive to eat and drink and skip your workouts until January. But a day or two can easily stretch into weeks or even months, and you’re right back to square one. In technical terms, you’ve become “deconditioned.” In fact, 25 to 35 percent of adult exercisers quit working out within two to five months of starting, according to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). How quickly your fitness level declines depends on several factors. Some may surprise you. I am Corey Blue and I am here to train you! Tip #2 Manage Portion Size Use smaller plates and serving utensils. Try a salad or dessert plate for the main course. When scooping food take half of what the serving spoon holds. What looks like a normal portion on a 12-inch plate or an average serving spoon can, in fact, be sinfully huge. Tracking your calories is a PROVEN weight loss strategy, however too few of us tally our intake – or even know how to. You can sharpen your calorie counting skills and slim down healthfully with a few tips. Do you know how many calories you have consumed today? Do you know how many you should consume if you’re trying to maintain your current weight or lost weight? It is estimated that only 9% of Americans keep track of their daily calorie intake and that same percentage is able to accurately estimate how many calories they should eat each day. Counting calories may seem too simple to work … especially with all of the sophisticated weight loss trends focused on everything from no carbs, high carbs, raw food, high fat, low fat, and everything in between! We’ve all heard we need to eat right and get the right nutrition from the correct food sources. The question is do you know how to start and maintain a healthy eating plan? Do you know what foods work for your body, and what foods actually work against it?
